McMullen Facades are recruiting for a Trainee Health & Safety Officer to join the Portadown Factory Site.
Hours of Work: 8am - 5pm Monday to Thursday 8am - 2pm Friday.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager you will be responsible for the following:
- Collaborate in the ongoing development and execution of the Health & Safety policy to ensure the safety of all operational procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, including COSHH and Manual Handling evaluations, and devise appropriate safe work protocols.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive training matrix for all staff, ensuring their training needs are met, from basic safety protocols to advanced skill development.
- Assist in upholding the company's standards, ensuring adherence to regulations and legislation.
- Participate in routine inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE standards, devising corrective plans alongside area supervisors for any identified non-compliance.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and health complaints, implementing preventive measures for future occurrences.
- Monitor subcontractors to ensure alignment with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records for effective HSE management and handle all related administrative tasks.
- Address employee safety concerns and devise improvement strategies, engaging with staff through appropriate forums.
- Evaluate new materials for HSE compliance and oversee correct installation and maintenance of new equipment/plant.
- Enforce company policies, including fire safety, substance abuse, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Stay informed about new legislation and maintain proficiency in HSE regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance of company fleet operations.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as agreed upon with the Health and Safety Manager.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Possession of NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or working towards.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Health & Safety capacity.
- Proficient understanding of HSE legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-driven, team-oriented attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and take ownership.
- Willingness to contribute to company improvement initiatives and business strategies.
