**SUMMARY OF THE ROLE**
To support the Area Visual Merchandiser in securing a world-class visual expression of stores across the Group (new and existing stores), ensuring that Søstrene Grene’s products are always beautifully and commercially presented. Our stores must always exceed customer expectations with inspiration around every corner. They should also be a beautiful place to work.
The Assistant Area Visual Merchandiser is responsible for the day-to-day visual expression in stores, working daily in stores across the Group to implement the Company vision. You will train, and work alongside, store visual merchandisers to create impressive product presentations and grow sales.
Your role will support the consistency of high visual merchandising standards across the Group, support store teams with regular training and workshops, implement weekly/ seasonal/ campaign strategies based on company guidelines, support store managers and area managers where visual issues have been identified, and recruit and train new VMs.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate store VMs to be creative, passionate, and commercial within their own stores. You will be an excellent team player with key attention to detail and a keen commercial understanding that sales must be the driver for product displays.
You will be involved with new store builds - assisting with VM recruitment, VM training for new store teams, and VM support and development after the store opens.
Regular travel across stores will be involved within this role and a flexible approach to working hours where required.
You will report directly to the Area Visual Merchandiser.
You must have your own transport and a full clean driver’s license.
**MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION**:
Your responsibilities as Assistant Area Visual Merchandiser will be varied and will be decided by the Area Visual Merchandiser. These will include:
**Brand**
- Secure the visual expression across the stores to ensure all stores are representing the Søstrene Grene brand to a continually high standard.
- Responsible for ensuring the windows and Spot areas are changed/refreshed each week as part of our ‘ever changing’ company value.
**Commercial**
- Your work has direct influence on the turnover. By optimising the product placement and designing exciting product displays, you will improve the customer experience and increase sales.
- Use sales reports to drive commercial product displays and promote cross merchandising to upsell in each department.
- Together with the Area Visual Merchandiser, use creative merchandising solutions to achieve KPI results and maximize sell-through on products.
- Create merchandising solutions for slow sellers.
- Review and implement weekly plans with visual merchandisers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of retail and visual trends.
- Support with effective stock management; plans for slow sellers, stock transfers, stock write downs.
**Visual**
- Create consistent, high standard displays to inspire our customers and provide a Søstrene Grene in-store retail experience.
- Ensure weekly Drops and visual elements are implemented according to Company guidelines.
- Create visually attractive solutions to clear slow sellers.
**Training/Recruitment**
- Recruit and train new store VMs.
- Coach and train store teams (all retail staff) on Søstrene Grene brand aesthetic and visual merchandising practices so they can support store VMs.
- Provide insight and feedback to store Visual Merchandisers, ensuring teams always have up-to-date product knowledge and can implement company directives.
- Build constructive relationships with store visual merchandisers and store teams.
**New Store Builds**
- Support on new store builds if required.
- Support the training of new store teams during the store build, so they are trained on basic VM practices when the store opens.
- Follow up support after store opens to ensure high visual standards are being maintained.
- Strong experience as a visual merchandiser, with proven merchandising, leadership and training skills.
- Previous experience as a visual merchandiser at multi-site level (homewares an advantage).
- Excellent communication skills to motivate store visual merchandisers to be their best.
- Flexible, being able to adapt to the needs of the business.
- Training and coaching skills in merchandising practices.
- Resourceful, with problem solving skills and initiative to get things done.
- Strong organisational and attention to detail skills
- Willing and able to travel frequently.
