**Role Overview**:
Working within the Early Help Service’s Mental Wellbeing Team, the post holder is responsible for coordinating and navigating emotional wellbeing and mental health support for children and young people & their families.

This role is required to liaise directly with the young person and their family to discuss potential referrals and unmet needs, quickly building trusting relationships with young people and their parent/carer in order to ensure the child has a mental wellbeing package of support in place including self care, school support, and other services, with escalation to specialist support if required.

These fixed term vacancies will have a particular focus on Emotionally Based School Avoidance and will work closely with partners to help young people improve their health and wellbeing and their school attendance and engagement with learning.

**Key Responsibilities**:
To coordinate support and wellbeing packages, including helping young people & their families to navigate care / wellbeing / SEND pathways and signposting them to suitable alternative provision to ensure speedier and easier access to appropriate services.

To use strength-based methods and work with young people and parents/carers to co-ordinate a bespoke plan of support where there is not already one in place. Additionally to contribute towards existing plans and work in partnership with schools, SEND, CAMHS, Children’s Social Care, Early Help etc to help shape them to meet the young person’s mental wellbeing needs.

To act as an advocate for children and families as required, mediating where relationships are difficult within families or between families and professionals, and providing professional challenge to other services when required.

To develop and maintain strong working relationships with professionals in a wide range of services delivering services and support to children and families.

**Key Requirements**:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

- Experience of providing direct emotional wellbeing advice and support to children, young people and families, assessing their unmet needs and developing bespoke plans / packages of support and completing referrals on to other services as required.
- Experience supporting young people to return to school for whom Emotionally Based School Avoidance is a concern
- Experience of working effectively in partnership with professionals from different disciplines, such as schools, health services and the voluntary sector
