College of Medicine and Health

The College of Medicine and Health (CMH) has a focus on mental and physical health education and science across three schools: the School of Psychology & Sport Science, School of Health Sciences and the North Wales Medical School. The College has a strong track record of world-leading teaching and research excellence and high levels of student satisfaction. The College provides professional training across a wide range of medical and healthcare professions, in addition to a range of core foundational research activities which underpin strong contributions to medical, pharmaceutical and health research, research methods, translational science, psychology and neuroscience, preventive health, rehabilitation, clinical intervention, human performance and applied physiology. CMH boasts excellent teaching and research facilities.

North Wales Medical School

The North Wales Medical School is the focus for medical, biomedical teaching and research at Bangor University. The school comprises of over 90 staff, delivering a portfolio of programmes that continues to expand. These include existing programmes in Biomedical and Medical Sciences, Pharmacology, Physician’s Associate and the franchised Cardiff C21 North Wales medicine programme. From Autumn 2024 onwards, the University’s Welsh Government-backed North Wales Medical School will commence its new, independent Medicine programme, followed by the MPharm Pharmacy degree from 2025. The School’s research centres, organised within the Bangor Institute for Medical and Health Research (BIHMR), span medicines optimisation, primary care, clinical trials, health economics, ageing and dementia, public health and cancer biology and pharmacology.

Purpose of the Job
- To conduct and report on research of an international standard in pharmacogenomics, with substantial evidence of quality and international peer recognition.- To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of
- projects and students.- To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.Main

**Responsibilities**:
Research duties:

- Collaborative research with colleagues across the North Wales Medical School and external partners and networks.- Manage one’s own research projects, with an emphasis on research output of a quality and quantity to contribute positively to the esteem and resources generated by Research Excellence Framework.- Identifying sources of future funding and contribution to the process of successfully securing funds.- Engage in scholarly and other relevant professional activities (e.g. Reviewer and/or referee for academic journals, contributor to academic conferences).- Supervision of research students to completion within a range from undergraduate up to PhD level.Teaching duties:

- Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.- Motivate students to proactive engagement in learning, and provide meaningful and constructive feedback
