**About The Role**:

The post holder will be responsible to the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Lead, and accountable to the Head of Nursing and Clinical Services.

A qualified Therapist from within the orthopaedic therapy team will supervise the post holder.

The key working relationships will be with the orthopaedic therapy team, the orthopaedic multidisciplinary team, and the wider inpatient therapies department, as well as with health & social care professionals in the community in order to provide a patient centred treatment approach for patients and their families/carers.

**Main duties of the job**

As part of the treatment and rehabilitation programme, the post holder works under the supervision of the qualified therapist. Duties may include:

- Working directly with the therapists to deliver rehabilitation
- Providing non-complex interventions for complex patients.
- Working alone on the ward as instructed by the therapists
- Assisting the patients with functional activities of daily living (e.g. personal care)
- Reinforce the qualified therapist's advice and patient education.
- Assist qualified staff in the provision of adaptive equipment
- Cleaning of re-usable equipment as required per trust policies.
- Any other relevant task as appropriate

The post-holder assists in the assessment of patients under the supervision of a qualified therapist, or will undertake some assessments independently with agreement and supervision of the qualified staff.

**About You**: You will have relevant experience and an NVQ in healthcare would be advantageous but not essential. Just as important though are your interpersonal skills, ability to work without close supervision, work under pressure and prioritise your workload.
