(suitable for Biomedical Scientists, registered nurses and other registered professional healthcare roles)

**PLEASE NOTE**: This is not a laboratory-based role and the department is unable to support the IBMS certificate of competence (registration) portfolio or IBMS specialist portfolio.

The role involves providing a high quality anticoagulation monitoring service to patients through scientific and technical activities. The ACP is responsible for providing warfarin dosing advice to patients based on their history, concurrent medications and target range using the DAWN AC software system. The role involves both team working and lone working; the ability to manage your time and prioritise tasks under pressure will be advantageous. You will also be required to provide supervision for non-registered Anticoagulation Support Workers (ASWs) working within the team.

The post holder will be expected to maintain competence to practice and to improve professional expertise through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as well as departmental training and competency assessments. The post holder’s main base will be at Leighton Hospital but with a substantial part of each week spent at community clinics serving Mid, East, South Cheshire and Vale Royal. The post holder may also be required to cover at Macclesfield Hospital on occasion.

The term ACP encompasses state registered staff such as Biomedical Scientists, Registered Nurses, and Pharmacy Technicians working in the Anticoagulation department.
