**Job summary**:
As an important part of the Ministry of Defence, Defence Intelligence (DI) provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice that supports decision making across government. At the heart of DI is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI).

Everything happens somewhere. NCGI produces intelligence that is referenced in time and space to help decision makers to understand, plan, navigate, and target; to understand what is going on.

We are the primary provider of geospatial intelligence advice and expertise, comprising imagery intelligence, geospatial analysis, geospatial services, foundation data, military mapping and, in partnership with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and the Meteorological Office, assured data for safety of navigation. We are a national capability, recognisably operating alongside other national intelligence agencies and is the primary interface between the UK and international geospatial intelligence partners.

You may think you need to be an analyst or have an intelligence background to work for NCGI; this is not true. There is a wide range of exciting roles available. Without our highly dedicated teams of enabling staff, such as IT support, finance, security, and facilities management, our critical outputs would just not be possible. We employ many Civil Servants who play a pivotal role in Defence, nationally and internationally, and we are proud to be part of a diverse, forward thinking, broad organisation.

The Joint Imagery Directorate (JID) sits within NCGI supporting the Imagery Intelligence profession across Defence. Reporting to the Capability Lead/Head of Profession the team, on their behalf, is responsible for implementing Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) policy, training requirements, governance, profession frameworks and career management of civilian imagery analysts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking individual to take on a rewarding role within the JID Training and Professionalisation (T&P) team. You will work in a close knit, dedicated team developing the professionalisation of the IMINT profession within Defence.

This post is advertised for 37 hours per week

**Job description**:
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Providing key evidence and solutions for future Imagery Analysis (IA)/IMINT policy, issues and training.
- Taking responsibility for projects to evolve and professionalise Defence imagery analysis which will include liaison with relevant stakeholders and commercial partners.
- Conducting IMINT related studies and training evaluations.
- Managing and informally mentoring new imagery analysts during their probation.
- Providing secretariat support for the various imagery-related working groups.
- Supporting imagery analyst career development.

Continuous career professional development opportunities will be provided through courses, conferences, and career management. The IA community extends beyond the UK, and it is likely that for some projects, the role will require the sharing of expertise through engagement with foreign partners.

There will be some regular travel associated with this role with to IMINT Community locations within the UK. Holding a UK Driving Licence would be beneficial.

In Defence Intelligence (DI) our people solve problems, create understanding, and give perspective to the diverse and complex Defence threats and challenges in a rapidly changing world. Together our civilians and military personnel inform decision making in Defence, manage complex finance programmes and develop new technology.

In DI we believe your unique experiences, view and understanding of the world could provide a vital perspective and contribution to our work. We recognise that great minds do not think alike and are striving to increase our diversity representation at all levels. As an equal opportunities employer we hire, train, and promote people based on merit and inspire to create an inclusive workplace free of discrimination. We also offer flexible working arrangements such as flexitime, job share and compressed hours.

**Person specification**:

- Excellent presentation and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills, including word-processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to prioritise and work to specific timeframes and targets.
- Enthusiasm - you should show passion to help develop and maintain Defence IMIN
