An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 2 clerical officer to join the Specialist Weight Management Service based in Ashton, Leigh and Wigan.

The position is primarily based at Leigh Health centre but may involve working from other community venues in Wigan and Leigh, therefore a willingness to travel and a flexible approach to working are required. Excellent communication, time management and IT skills are essential, and previous experience within an administrative role is desirable.

This varied role will involve providing clerical and reception support to staff and patients of the Specialist Weight Management Service based in Leigh and Wigan. The post holder will politely and efficiently manage telephone enquires, greet patients who come to Leigh for appointments and book them in/arrange future appointments. The role will also involve registering referrals on iPM (patient management system), managing waiting lists, preparing clinics and liaising with other services. When required, the post holder will also cancel clinics and re-appoint patients appropriately.

**Principal Accountabilities**: To work as part of the Specialist Weight Management admin team, providing clerical and reception support to staff and patients of the Specialist Weight Management Service.

**Key responsibilities**:
1. To register all referrals to the Specialist Weight Management Service on the iPM (Patients Management System) and arrange appointments and complete reminder phone calls and letters as required
2. To receive and register all patients attending the department.
3. Prepare Specialist Weight Management clinics ensuring all records are available
4. To arrange appointments for all patients, adhering to departmental procedures
5. When required, to cancel clinics, clinic streams and re-appoint patients appropriately as directed by the admin lead and clinicians
6. To adapt to any changes in patient administrative procedures.
7. Deal politely and efficiently with telephone enquires
8. Deal tactfully and sensitively with patients and relatives
9. To arrange interpreters as required
10. To liaise with and assist the admin lead to ensure the efficient running of the Specialist Weight Management clerical servic
11. General clerical duties including photocopying, scanning and minute taking as required
12. To ensure effective internal and external 2 way communication of non clinical advice, information and guidance to other departments, patients, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals
13. To work at any site or outreach clinic as directed by the Therapy / Office Manager

14. To cover for sickness / absence for other clerical staff when required.
