Sense Scotland supports a number of adults with communication support needs and /or a physical/learning disability across Ayrshire. Our service is continually growing and our TouchBase service based in Ardrossan offers a range of exciting opportunities for people to thrive and enjoy taking part in community activities. The service we provide includes escorting people from their home to our day centre as well as supporting them out and about in the local area where they can access local amenities.

Our TouchBase Ayrshire provides specialised services and support in a welcoming, safe and accessible environment, for disabled children, young people and adults.

The service can be used as a drop-in service, a base for access to the wider community and a place for people to pursue their own interests.

Support is tailored to meet people’s needs through discussions with the person, families and carers. We also provide support with health care needs and personal care.

**About the role**:
We are currently recruiting 4x Support Practitioners for our TouchBase day service offering part time, permanent 16-30 hours per week Monday to Friday, There will also be very occasional weekend work as and when required to meet the needs of the people we support.

Your workplace will be based in our purpose built centre with access to a range of facilities to support individuals including access to arts and sporting facilities.

You will be providing practical help for day to day living including help to communicate their needs, support with mobility and in some cases support with eating and drinking and personal care. Some individuals do not communicate through speech but through their behaviour and for some this can present challenges. You will receive extensive training in understanding challenging behaviour and how best to manage this.

Everyone we support come with great personalities and can make an active contribution to their community in their own way with our support. Each individual is unique and has their own personal support plan to ensure they reach their potential and have the kind of support that is important to them. We work closely with families and good communication with families is an important part of the role.
