We are now seeing an Education Welfare & Attendance Officer to join our attendance team. As an Education Welfare & Attendance Officer you will:

- Be a presence in the community, working with both students and families to support attendance.
- Visit families at their home address and work with them to remove barriers to school attendance.
- Relentlessly focus on students who are persistently absent and support their attendance improvement.
- Provide safeguarding information to support student wellbeing and make internal and external referrals if support is required.
- Use data to target students for home visits and work with families to improve attendance and where appropriate, bring them into school.
- Deal with enquiries and queries from parents and proactively communicate with them regarding their attendance.
- Attend safeguarding meetings to provide context for students not attending school and action welfare checks requested by the safeguarding team.
- Liaise with staff, students, parents and multi-agency partners to ensure that attendance and admissions processes are accurate and fit for purpose
- Support in maintaining accurate attendance records across the academy, and report on attendance as required and contribute to strategies that improve academy attendance.

**What we need**:

- 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English
- Evidence of experience in a similar office role or administering pastoral issues
- Experience of using databases, word processing and a range of other IT packages.
- Well-developed time management, planning and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Effective team player
