We are looking for an enthusiastic electrical/electronic Technician to join our High Dependency 2 (HD2) section of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department (Wolverhampton). The work will be providing specialist technical support to Women & Children’s (W&C) specialty of the HD2 services. Support will also be provided to other specialties within HD2 in response to service requirements. Carrying out maintenance and repair of medical equipment in W&C’s clinical areas located at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital sites where advanced technology and complex techniques are being used.

Ideally you should previously have experience in the servicing and repair of electrical/electronic medical equipment used in high dependency clinical areas or extensive use of highly specialist medical devices in this sort of area.

Applicants should possess a relevant degree or the equivalent level of knowledge/experience in electrical/electronic engineering.

A car and a full UK driving licence are essential to the duties of the post.

The recruitment process following shortlisting, will comprise of a two-stage process involving aStage Aa theory/practical test.Stage Bconsisting of a Presentation then Q&A’s.

The Post holder will provide full time specialist technical support to either the Women & Children’s (W&C) speciality which include all wards/departments/high dependency areas in the Maternity Building, Children’s Ward/Outpatients departments OR Theatres specialty at New Cross and Cannock Chase sites. Support will also be provided to other specialties within HD2 in response to service requirements. He/she will have technical responsibility for the broad range of work provided, and will be expected to work to a high level of skill where advanced technology and complex techniques are being used. The majority of his/her work is expected to be of a high complexity. He/she will liaise closely with the Section Head HD2, clinical staff and senior staff of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department. Particular responsibility will be the need to maintain effective professional links with clinical users of the technical service within HD2 speciality. He/she will be required to set up non-routine specialised treatments such as the high risk Inhaled Nitric Oxide Clinical therapy.

Ideally you should previously have achieved a high level of knowledge and competency/experience in the servicing and repair of electrical/electronic medical equipment used in high dependency clinical areas or extensive use of highly specialist medical devices for either Women & Children’s discipline or Theatres discipline.
