**THE COMPANY**:
Phase Biolabs is developing gas fermentation technology to convert industrial CO2 into useful products. We’re on a mission to decarbonise heavy industry and recycle more than 1 gigaton of CO2 by 2050. We’re working on optimising the microorganisms that catalyse our process of converting CO2 into chemicals and e-fuels.

We’re a venture funded biotech start-up who have just closed our seed investment round. We are backed by leading climate tech investors as well as Y Combinator (W22) and are building our founding team. **Your role**:
As Founder Associate you will be part of the founding company team and will be tasked with working side by side with our founder to coordinate all aspects of our busy and dynamic startup. You will collaborate with all members of our multidisciplinary team to define and execute company strategy, and ensure that all work can be carried out safely and effectively. You will oversee the planning, coordination, and reporting for multiple streams of work.

You will represent the company by liaising with partners, clients, contractors, and more. Your focus will regularly switch as you balance varied responsibilities, and you will often be required to develop creative solutions to the various challenges faced by a technology startup.

You must:

- Hold intimate experience of working in a startup environment, and the benefits and challenges that this brings, ideally in a biotech or greentech field.
- Have a broad understanding of the various aspects of company operations and management, from HR, to finance and strategy.
- Be incredibly organised, with a demonstrated ability to balance multiple complex projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Be an excellent communicator, able to liaise with a wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders, and negotiate to secure favourable terms for the company.
- Have a track record of developing creative solutions to huge problems and small inconveniences alike.
- Have business development experience, including sourcing clients, strategic partners, and identifying and obtaining funding.

Desirables (non-essential)
- Have a general understanding of biotech R&D operations, and have prior experience working in, or supporting the management of, a research environment.
- Have a demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, biotechnology, sustainability, and CCUS/green technologies.

Your responsibilities:

- Work directly with Phase’s founder by coordinating and managing all topics that are important to the company.
- Ensure smooth day-to-day running of all company activities, and develop and implement systems for improving operations.
- Work closely with the Phase’s founder to develop, define, and implement company strategy. This will vary across HR, financing, business development, scaling, and more.
- Organise all aspects of back-office operations, including procurement and preparing and delivering reports where required.
- Represent the company externally by engaging in business development to obtain and manage new strategic partners and clients.
- Collaborate closely with the R&D team to ensure that all company activities can be completed effectively and safely.

**SOME PRACTICAL DETAILS**:

- The job is based in Nottingham.
- Full-time, 2 year contract with option to extend.
- 40 hours / week.
- 28 days paid holiday.
- Salary £40,000 - £50,000.
- Bonuses tied to company milestones.
- Equity compensation via employee share option plan.

**THE HIRING PROCESS**:
