Junior Research Fellowship in Modern Languages

Oxford, United Kingdom Lady Margaret Hall Full time

This new Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is intended as a career development post for an early career academic. It provides a three-year opportunity to develop independent research alongside gaining some experience and training in tutorial teaching. The successful applicant will be provided with a mentor, who will offer career guidance and general advice.

This post is funded for three years through the generosity of an alumna of the College (Nicky Manby, née Croome, 1976, French and German) and it has been established in the context of the College’s strategy to enhance its own academic provision, to provide new opportunities for career development and to develop links between the worlds of teaching and research.

The person appointed would be expected to conduct significant research in any area of Modern Languages, including, for example, language, literature, visual arts, material culture. The person appointed will be expected to undertake up to two hours a week of undergraduate tutorial teaching in Modern Languages for the College. They will help with the organisation and promotion of Modern Languages at LMH and will play a full role in the intellectual and social life of the College. The College would also expect the Research Fellow to engage with the academic activities of the Faculty of Modern Languages.
