**The Role**
SBC Activity Leaders are key members of the Activity Programme who are in charge of the planning and delivery of the exciting activities that SBC schools offer to students. Enthusiastic and fun Activity Leaders are essential to a successful summer. Whilst more traditional language learning takes place in the classrooms, the Activity Programme provides another environment for using and practising the English language.
Eton Activity Leaders are also heavily involved in the delivery of pastoral care for our students alongside the House Parent. Eton Activity Leaders will often be the first point of contact for students pastoral and welfare needs. As such it is important that they have the skills to build open, supportive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
**The Site**
**SBC at Eton College **provides international students aged 12- 16 the opportunity to study at one of the world’s most famous schools. Founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, Eton College has educated 20 British Prime Ministers as well as numerous authors, scientists, actors, Olympians and explorers. The historic venue provides a truly inspiring environment for our students to study in.

**Additional Role Specific Support**
- Paid attendance of a certified First Aid Course
**_Remuneration_**: Paid weekly, one week in arrears. The weekly rate received for Eton Activity Leaders is £560 PLUS any accrued holiday to be paid at the end of contract)* Food and accommodation are included for all residential SBC staff.
**_Working Hours:_** **A normal working week for Eton Activity Leaders will consist of up to 48 hours per week over six working days.
**Main Duties**:
- Design, prepare and lead activities and events
- Lead groups of students on excursions, following the pre-planned itinerary
- Ensure that the students are safe at all times during an activity or on an excursion
- Assist the management in the effective day to day running of the school
- Be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of students in your care
- Adhere to all Health and Safety measures (including COVID safety measures, risk assessments and other policies and procedures)
- Help with student transfers to and from the airport for any arrivals and departures
General Duties:
The welfare of students is paramount to us. Although we employ House Parents to oversee and attend to the day-to-day welfare needs of our students, every member of the team is expected to assist in maintaining the welfare and order within their boarding house.
- Help transfer students to and from the airport if needed
- Accompany and supervise students on offsite English Plus activities where required
- Actively supervise and interact with students during meal and break times
- Empower students to successfully engage in the programme while helping develop independence, confidence and social skills
- As with all residential work, be able to show a large degree of flexibility
- Help ensure that the students do not breach the rules of the school
- Engage with the students at all times, in a friendly but professional manner
- Assist at any time, whether on duty or not, with an emergency situation

**About You**:
**SBC PERSON SPECIFICATION**
All members of staff employed by SBC will be expected to bring certain key qualities to the operation. There must be a professional interest in working with young people and particularly international children. Safety and welfare of the students is of paramount importance at SBC and a practical enforcing of this belief should be a quality exhibited by all staff.
