The Corporate Affairs Team at Yorkshire Water is recruiting for a new Corporate Affairs Assistant. The role will focus on supporting the team’s work to deliver projects and influencing campaigns which will shape local and national policy, build strong stakeholder and partner relationships and manage risks to the company’s reputation.

**Salary: £21,702 - £27,127 dependent on experience + bonus + pension + 25 days holiday**

Location: Livingstone House, Leeds

**Purpose of the role**:
The Yorkshire Water Corporate Affairs team plays a key role in managing the company’s external reputation with politicians, regulators, partners and other stakeholders. The team is also responsible for managing communications during crisis incidents and for influencing policy in order to further the company’s objectives.

The Corporate Affairs Assistant role focuses on supporting the team to implement the company’s Corporate Affairs strategy including through research, event organisation and stakeholder engagement.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Supports the Public Affairs Team in the delivery of its activities and objectives
- Helps build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders e.g. local authorities, local councillors, parish councils, interest groups and MPs.
- Provides research and information to support the development and delivery of key activities.
- Supports the development of policy influencing campaigns.
- Assists with the organisation of internal and external events.
- Works with external agencies to ensure that up-to-date information of external matters such as parliamentary activity and regulatory changes are shared with senior managers.
- Maintains effective relationships with key external influencers to build trust and support the company strategic objectives
- Supports the work of the team in managing operational incidents
- To work with Corporate Affairs colleagues to deliver team objectives and plans
- To be flexible within your role, operating outside own area of specialism to meet business needs when required.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**

**Essential**
- An understanding of local and national government.
- Excellent research skills and the ability to translate research into high-quality briefings for senior managers.
- Confident with the ability to establish and build effective working relationships
- Well organised, with the ability to work on several projects and initiatives at once
- Provide expert and best practice advice to the rest of the business
- Completer - finisher that drives projects and initiatives through from beginning to end
- A team player - supports colleagues and works with others to achieve best outcome.
- Commitment to be flexible and support colleagues across the team
- Demonstrate creativity and ability to generate own ideas
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and written skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Clearly demonstrates the company’s values and behaviours.

**Desirable**
- Previous experience of working in a political environment
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
- Public Relations or similar qualification
- Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
