To work at all times under supervision, assisting trained nurses to deliver a high quality of care within ward or department. No duties will be undertaken by the Nursing Auxiliary unless they have received instruction and training and are assessed as competent.

To work under supervision to carry out direct nursing duties.

To develop an understanding of basic nursing in line with quality standards.

To develop understanding of the importance of emergency situations and how to seek help and be aware of equipment positioning.

To follow the training and development programme identified by the Ward Manager.

To develop skills in communication and confidentiality. To develop skills in understanding of care relating to an individual’s physical/psychological needs.

To attend lectures and other areas for own development.

Be aware of psychological needs and support for relatives.

At all times treat the patient with dignity and respect, exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the data protection act.

Uphold religious, cultural and personal beliefs of patients.
