Rokewood Court, located in Kenley is a luxury 64 bed care home that provides the most luxurious surroundings and the very best in care and support. We are looking for a full-time kitchen assistant to assist our catering team working weekends.

The Kitchen Assistant will support all catering functions within the Cinnamon home and, alongside the Head Chef and other catering staff ensures that all kitchen services are efficient and that the required Health & Safety measures are adhered to within the department. The Kitchen Assistant assists with all the working areas within the homes kitchen. Responsibilities will include assisting with food preparation, washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen area.

**Purpose of Job**

The Kitchen Assistant support all catering functions within the Cinnamon home and, alongside the Head Chef and other catering staff ensures that all kitchen services are efficient and that the required Health & Safety measures are adhered to within the department. The Kitchen Assistant assists with all the working areas within the homes kitchen. Responsibilities are not limited to, food preparation, washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen area.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Support the Head Chef, Chef and other catering team members to deliver all catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice at all times.
- Prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Head Chef promptly and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times in accordance with the appropriate food hygiene regulations.
- Prepare special diet meals as needed and as directed by the Head Chef.
- Provide feedback to the Head Chef and Chef on complaints from residents or others on the functioning of the catering department. Address complaints promptly where possible and report them to the Head Chef or in the Head Chef';s absence to the Chef.
- Support cost-effective stock control systems to minimise waste and ensure these are in place.
**Health and Safety**:

- Reporting immediately to the General Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another.
- Understanding and ensuring the implementation of the Home';s Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Adhere to the homes policies & procedures for infection control including clinical waste, laundry, COSHH, body spillages. Moving & handling, food hygiene, sharps.
- Remove from use any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard & report this to your line manager & the Maintenance Team.
- Promoting safe working practice within the Home.
- To take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
- Adhere to the homes smoking policy, this can vary at each home.

- Physically and medically able to carry out duties and responsibilities with or without assistive aids
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work under pressure
- Energetic, passionate and proactive attitude
- Awareness of COSHH and CQC regulations
