Lancaster, United Kingdom St. John’s Hospice Full time

**This role matters.**

We are looking for a Senior Healthcare Assistant who is compassionate and driven to make a difference to patients and their families at a difficult time in their lives. The Hospice night-sitting service provides respite care for patients and their carers within their own home, giving families the chance to sleep, recharge and provide support.

**Rachel is one our Night Sitters, and here’s what she has to say about her role and why it’s important to her >>**

“I feel very privileged to be a part of someone’s last moments of their life, giving the care and dignity they deserve. As Healthcare Assistants, we aim to make a difference to the last weeks, days and hours of a patient’s life but also to the patient’s relatives offering them the chance to rest and build up the emotional energy they need for what is ahead of them, also offering reassurance, sympathy and understanding.

My co-workers and the Hospice at Home team are very valuable to me, knowing that they support me in every area, offering a listening ear and an encouraging word. I can’t imagine being in any other job, although it’s not a job to me, it’s an honour to work for St Johns Hospice.”
