This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, hardworking, and committed individual, with previous supervisory experience of working within a busy catering and/or stores department to join the team here at Royal Cornwall Hospital. You will be responsible for the supervision of the stores and the picking and packing assistants within the department. To promote and maintain best practice in all areas including freezer, picking and storage. The role includes administration tasks including stock control, ordering, and scheduling rotas, good IT skills are essential. This position involves flexibility and hands on approach. You will be required to work in temperature-controlled environments on a daily basis.

To provide effective leadership to the stores and picking teams and to be responsible for co-ordination of duties within the department. You must be willing to cover any area of work when required.

Responsible for orders, stock control and team scheduling.

To be instrumental in the development of quality initiatives and in ensuring the effectiveness of your team.

To ensure the departments high standards are reflected in practice.

To provide leadership in the achievement of a quality catering service.

To ensure that all food safety procedures are carried out in accordance with the Trust’s Hygiene Policy and current legislation.

To ensure that their team follow HACCP procedures and complete cleaning schedules.

To maintain a safe and secure working environment regarding health and safety.

To observe rules and procedures with regards to food safety and hygiene.

To ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the department policies and procedures.

To identify any shortfall in the skill base of staff and ensure that standards are maintained through follow up training, by highlighting to the Management team.

To cover any area that is required to allow service to be maintained

To ensure that staff hours are utilised to the department’s best advantage.

To support the philosophy of team building within the department.

Responsible for the individual morale of staff under their control and for coaching staff through the process of change and new procedures.
