**Job Summary**

To support and enhance Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy input to service users.

The post holder will work independently with service users to support the delivery of therapy interventions under the supervision and guidance of the Clinical Psychologist and Occupational Therapist (OT). The post holder will provide practical support in the preparation for materials that may be required by the OT or Clinical Psychologist.

**Major Responsibilities**

**1.** **CLINICAL**
- To form professional and therapeutic relationships with service users/patients.
- Under their supervision, assist the Clinical Psychologist and OT to undertake therapeutic activities directly related to their respective interventions
- To contribute to the completion of psychology and OT assessments
- To contribute to the development and delivery of MDT care plans
- To contribute to the delivery of meaningful and therapeutic activities for service users under the direction and support of the Clinical Psychologist and OT
- To assist, under supervision, in the co-ordination and running of therapeutic interventions, including both individual and group interventions
- To liaise and work closely with multi-disciplinary staff, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nursing and support staff in assessing and reviewing residents’ care
- To attend and contribute to appropriate multidisciplinary meetings as and when required
- To communicate sensitive information, both verbally and in writing, to colleagues, service users, family members and professionals external to the organisation, as appropriate, under the guidance and supervision of a Clinical Psychologist or OT
- To act as a role model, demonstrating specific techniques or approaches to staff.
- To prepare materials as required.

**2. RESEARCH AND SERVICE EVALUATION**
- To contribute to clinically relevant research, service evaluation and audit projects under the direction of the Clinical Psychologist and OT
- To undertake searches and literature reviews, to provide the Clinical Psychologist and OT, and other staff with information regarding clinically effective interventions

**3. TEACHING TRAINING AND SUPERVISION**
- To assist the Clinical Psychologist and OT in the preparation and delivery of formal and informal teaching and training activities
- To receive regular supervision from either a Clinical Psychologist or OT

**4. SERVICE DEVELOPMENT**
- To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as appropriate and required
- To, as appropriate, attend service development planning meetings

**5. GENERAL**
- To ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes in consultation with the post-holder’s managerial and clinical supervisors.
- To ensure the development and articulation of best practice in Psychology and OT within the service area.
- To ensure the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with policies and procedures.
- To attend Clinical Team meetings and other relevant meetings as appropriate.
- To observe guidelines, policies and procedures around the protection of vulnerable adults.

**Salary**: £12.00 per hour

**Education**:

- Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Mental Health: 2 years (preferred)
