What you'll be doing...

To organise and co-ordinate all elections (including UK parliamentary, European parliamentary, county, police commissioner, district, and parish) and other voting (including parish) polls, neighbourhood/planning referenda and other statutory and quasi-statutory ballots).

Managing the registers of electors ensuring the statutory requirements are met.

Leading statutory reviews in relation to all elections and electoral boundaries, consulting both internally and externally formulating amended electoral arrangements, reporting to working groups, committees and council, and implementing any changes. Directly support the returning officer and leader through external reviews.

Responsible for the councils' response to electoral reform and the modernising of electoral processes

Representing the electoral registration officer, the returning officer, or the council on electoral matters, liaising with external organisations

You must have...

*Relevant professional qualification such as ICSA or DMS.
*AEA certificate or diploma.
*Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level in electoral administration, including registration and running of elections in a local authority.
*Ability to achieve results through managing others.
*Capability to lead both permanent and temporary teams, organising workloads and developing team members so they are effective in their role.
*Experience of budget management across a range of large budgets relating to the operation of elections administration in general and in connection with budgets set for individual elections and the preparation of election accounts.
*Experience in the preparation of overall project plans relating to the planning of each election, the annual canvass and electoral reviews.
*Experience in the preparation of electoral accounts and other key returns to Electoral Commission, County Council, HMRC etc.
*Thorough knowledge and understanding of UK primary and secondary legislation relating to electoral processes and procedures.
