Main duties of the job

Phlebotomy is the skill of obtaining a blood sample by using varying techniques and equipment, whilst following trust guidance and policy.

The teams provide a warm and welcoming supportive learning environment and share a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Previous experience working as a Phlebotomist is not required as full supervised training will be provided.

Excellent communication skills along with a pleasant, friendly and understanding disposition are essential for this role and previous experience of working with the general public would be an advantage.

This role will require the post holder to wear personal, protective, equipment (PPE) including masks, aprons and gloves as per trust guidance.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Desirable criteria
- venepuncture certification or exposure

Experience

Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the Phlebotomy role

Desirable criteria
- NHS experience or similar health care environment

Analytical and judgement skills

Essential criteria
- Ability to work under pressure

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of the ability to work on own initiative

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Computer literate/able to use and enter data on required software
- Can demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of the ability to work as part of a team

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
