Senior Clinical Fellow Breast

Caring of inpatients The post-holder will participate in up to 7 theatre sessions covering the full range of breast resectional and reconstructive surgery as well as surgery for benign breast conditions. There will be opportunities to collaborate with our on-site plastic surgeons to provide the immediate autologous reconstructive service. For the senior fellow, this will include performing skin sparing mastectomies. There will also be training in a broad range of endocrine procedures including surgery for benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid conditions as well laparoscopic and open adrenalectomies.
The post-holder will receive mentorship and supervision in theatres with the aim that they will acquire the surgical competency to perform most procedures independently during their time in the unit. They will also provide leadership to the junior team to support their consultant in the smooth running of theatre lists including overseeing list organization, patient preparation and post-operative care in recovery and on the ward. Self-development There will be a session allocated to self-development during which the post-holder will be expected to develop their leadership and teamwork skills by taking a leading role in rota management (with administrative support). Self-development time may also be used to explore additional theatre opportunities such as in plastic surgery theatres and in day surgery.
