We now have fantastic opportunity for dedicated and passionate individual to join our enthusiastic and talented team to help create enjoyable and memorable experiences for all our team & guests.

As the Head Housekeeper you will be responsible for the operation of the housekeeping department working 40 hours a week based over 5 days working straight shifts, maintaining standards of cleanliness throughout the rooms and public areas of the hotel.

You will have extensive hands-on experience working in a high quality hotel in a Housekeeping role. You will have an excellent eye for detail and a genuine passion for providing warm hospitality, always striving to exceed guest expectations. You will have strong communication skills with the ability to work well with others to represent the Company and the hotel in a loyal, professional, and knowledgeable manner

**The Place**

The Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa set in the heart of the English Lake District has been extensively refurbished and in private ownership for over 37years. The hotel now has 70 bedrooms, Restaurant and Bar, Clarins Spa, Leisure Facilities which include Pool, Gym and outdoor Hot Tub and welcomes guests all year around. The hotel aims for an average of 80% Occupancy throughout the year with the hotel closing over the Christmas Festive Period enabling our team to spend time with their nearest and dearest, reopening for the New Year Festivities

**The Person**

The ideal Head Housekeeper will have experience of the following:

- Excellent communicator and a highly organized approach with a keen eye for detail
- Already be a Housekeeping Manager or Executive Head Housekeeper in a similar sized property
- Happy to work shifts and weekends.
- A hands-on approach is needed - to support the housekeeping team
- Friendly, outgoing and motivated to go the extra mile for guests and colleagues
- Being a team player, leading your team by example
- Taking personal pride in your work, bringing a positive and proactive attitude to daily tasks and problem solving and many other requirements that you would expect of the role.
- Providing training and support for staff
- Commitment to exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry
- Managing rotas for an amazing team of housekeepers
- Ordering of stock, cleaning supplies as required and in budget
- Servicing and presentation of guest bedrooms, maintaining the highest standards throughout the rooms and public spaces that our guests expect
- Check a certain amount of rooms daily
- Check all vacant ready rooms daily
- Public areas and linen room quality checks
- Effective communication with the reception team to ensure return of ‘ready rooms’ at the earliest opportunity
- Understanding, controlling, and monitoring linen stocks, liaising with linen hire Company, and complying with supplier requirements
- Scheduling and maintaining records of planned deep cleaning
- Working closely with the maintenance team arranging repairs and maintenance of the rooms and public areas and ensuring maintenance requests are followed up and issues rectified immediately.

- Engage, train, lead and inspire the housekeeping team
- Organise and delegate tasks to team members under your direction
- Take responsibility for any on site company assets and ensure that they are maintained in good condition and serviced as required
- Ensure all keys are signed out and in and regular key audits are completed
- Assist with the management of lost property
- Develop, maintain, and review housekeeping policies and best practice systems and procedures and standards
- Ensure clear lines of communication both with the hotel and the company and participate fully as a Senior Manager within the business
- Liaise with other departments and Managers on a regular basis
- Where relevant support recruitment and associated procedures
- Manage the process of authorised absence and always ensure that the absence is covered without interruption to the business and the smooth operation of the department
- Ensure all staff are fully conversant with Health Safety policies and procedures and attend relevant training
- Ensure all staff are trained regarding standards and productivity requirements and that concerns are addressed, and re-training completed if necessary
- Take initial responsibility for managing and resolving any team member queries
- Evaluate performance of all team members under your direction, including conducting regular team member appraisals
- Liaise with HR regarding any relevant concerns relating to staff welfare or allegations of misconduct
