Children & Young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties are a high-risk group whose needs are unfortunately not always understood or met. This important role aims to ensure that children & young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties who experience mental health problems get timely, appropriate evidence-based care and treatment.
The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service offers treatment for children and young people up to the age of 18 for mild to severe emotional and mental health needs.
Our core purpose is to work with children and young people and their families/carers, who may be experiencing emotional and mental health disorders that have a significant impact on the child’s development and cause distress to the child and/or their carers. We aim to improve the mental health of all children and young people with the provision of a timely, integrated, high quality, effective, multi-disciplinary county wide service.
**This role involves**:
- Supporting the development of training for staff to meet the core capabilities framework for children & young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
- Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team to ensure adequate provisions and adaptations to resources, group and individual interventions.
- Offering direct specialist intervention for children & young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties and complex mental health needs.
- Joint working with mental health practitioners to increase the level of knowledge and skill in the wider CAMHS workforce and ensure better outcomes for CYP with neurodevelopmental needs and their families
- Offering consultation and training

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work as a Neurodevelopmental Specialist across Community CAMHS. The three locality based Community CAMHS teams support young people and families presenting with mild
- severe mental health difficulties across Nottinghamshire.
This role will promote and develop clinical excellence within the Community CAMHS teams to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
**Working as a Neurodevelopmental Specialist, you will**:
- Support the implementation of the core capabilities framework across CAMHS.
- Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team to ensure adequate provisions and adaptations to resources, group and individual interventions.
- Offering direct specialist intervention for children & young people with Neurodevelopmental difficulties and complex mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively alongside mental health practitioners to support the provision of excellent evidence-based care to CYP with Neurodevelopmental difficulties and their families
- Offering consultation and training to the wider CAMHS workforce to increase the level of knowledge and skill and ensure better outcomes for CYP with Neurodevelopmental difficulties and their families
- Contribute to comprehensive care planning through partnership working with other agencies such as education and social care to ensure better outcomes.
- Conduct audits to evaluate quality of care provision and to formulate improvement plans as needed.
You will be required to work closely with the Clinical and Operational Leads for the teams to ensure quality and excellence in service provision.
A key element of the role will be to support the development and sustaining of a positive working culture within the team and the broader service to support clinicians in feeling valued, listened to, supported and provided with clinical learning opportunities.
A working knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding procedures, experience of working with the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act is essential. Experience of working with young people with Neurodevelopmental difficulties who experience mental health difficulties is essential.
