**Operations Officer (Sports Governance Academy) - up to £35,000 + Benefits - Farringdon, London (EC1N 8TS)**

**The Role**

Are you an Operations Officer with a good understanding of the sports sector and a knack for coordinating multiple projects at once? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented person with excellent verbal and written communication skills to join our team as an Operations Officer. In this role, you will ensure a smooth working relationship between all stakeholders within the SGAand coordinate effective delivery of programme outputs. You will also seek out new business opportunities and work with clients to identify solutions that meet their need.

Combining an understanding of sports governance and stakeholder management skills you will provide informed advice and support to partners and clients and ensure that activities meet sector needs.

**Key Responsibilities**:
The key responsibilities of an Operations Officer include, but are not limited to:

- Act as the 'day to day' point of contact for the SGA audience, including handling general enquiries about the project, fielding questions about events, content, professional and board development and other activities, and responding to queries about contactdetails, use of data etc.
- Maintain strong relationships with Sport England, the Sports Councils and other stakeholders and partners. And in collaboration with the Programme Manager, foster new partnerships with other sector parties and ensure that the Programme's purpose and ethosare understood and adopted by all.
- Collaborate with the appropriate CGIUKI teams to ensure that output is to agreed specifications and in line with the Programme's aims and values, defining the approach to delivery, appetite for risk and resource requirement, and ensuring that it is clearlyunderstood and followed.
- Work with CGIUKI teams, sector partners and providers to identify gaps in SGA provision and explore opportunities for leveraging additional commercial, reputational and other benefits from the Programme.
- Manage the commissioning process of all content, including technical content for the knowledge base, course materials, comment and news, blogs, press releases etc, and review content from external authors.
- Support the operational delivery of the SGA conference, training courses, mentoring scheme and other events in physical and/or virtual format including sourcing and establishing venues and/or digital platforms and manage delegate communication. Also adviseon themes and topics to inform programming, identifying speakers and helping to source content and materials.
- Liaising with the appropriate teams, maintain and update the SGA website, including the online community platform, scheduling, creating and overseeing the upload of web content, and working with developers and other teams to ensure the website remains fitfor purpose.
- Act as 'champion' for the SGA throughout the organisation and externally by creating meaningful feedback loops, building strong cross-functional relationships and representing the SGA at events, meetings etc as required.
- Manage supplier procurement and relationships as directed ensuring that the SGA obtains value for money.
- Liaise with the members of the Programme Board and Advisory Group, providing secretarial and administrative support as required, including preparing agendas, papers, reports etc, and writing and circulating minutes.

Work with the Programme Manager to ensure that all processes are streamlined and fit for purpose and that the appropriate platforms and technologies are used to deliver the best possible experience and to future proof for growth.

The programmeis fully funded by Sport England and delivered by The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland in partnership with Sport England, UK Sport, Sport Scotland, Sport Wales and Sport Northern Ireland.

**The Person**

The key skills and qualities of an Operations Officer are:

- A good understanding of the sports sector would be advantageous.
- An understanding of governance theory and practice is desirable.
- Experience of building and managing effective relationships with a range of partners and in identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
- Demonstrable experience of planning, managing and delivering projects to deadline.
- Excellent relationship building and negotiating skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels at the organisation.
- Act in accordance with CGIUKI's values of openness, integrity and authority.
- Able to work early mornings and evenings occasionally.
- Some travel out of London involved.
