The Role

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Operational Control Data & Intelligence Analyst to join our Operational Control Division within Operations. As an Operational Control Data & Intelligence Analyst, you will contribute to timely and effectivedata, analysis, intelligence/insight and visualisation to support decision-making and achievement of business objectives. Reporting to the Operational Control Senior Project Manager you will be working with internal stakeholders to identify where analysiscan inform decision-making concerning operational technology on the Strategic Road Network.

What you’ll be leading on
- Gather, monitor and analyse multiple datasets across Operational Control’s assets, safety, traffic/network occupancy, customer and performance to inform and influence collaborative evidence-led decision-making within Operations. Work with team members todraft balanced and objective conclusions and to highlight risks/opportunities.
- Assist with the continuous development of automation, visualisation and analytical approaches, to support Operations.
- Develop an understanding of business performance metric calculations and operational levers.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of a broad range of analytical and data visualisation software systems (including but not limited to data query languages, Power BI, GIS and Excel) and analytical tools used within National Highways.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of a broad range of datasets, National Highways databases and theory pertaining to the network and network/business performance across road safety, customer, and delivery.
- Comply with legal requirements and National Highways Data Management principles when handling and sharing data.
- Adhere to the Analytical Assurance Framework, identifying and escalating issues with data quality and data integrity.
- Communicate analytical outcomes to a range of internal stakeholders from different specialisms.
- Actively contribute to the national intelligence analyst group meetings, researching and sharing the latest analysis methodologies and systems.

To be successful
- Experience of Microsoft Office products with advanced Excel skills and knowledge of a range of standard analytical tools, Geographic Information Systems and Structured Query Languages.
- Awareness of exploratory, visual analytics, optimisation and predictive analytics methodologies, tools and techniques.
- Awareness of data modelling and analysis tools and techniques.
- Ability to present analytical insights to diverse audiences in both written and oral formats
- Good understanding of data and information management principles and best practices.
