The Opportunity_**

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Head of Solar where you’ll be responsible for setting the strategy for the overall development of the solar portfolio including opportunities to add value through M&A and taking projects to financial close.

**_What you’ll be doing_**

You’ll build a strong team of Business Development Managers who are effective in de-risking projects and optimising investment cases in preparation for FID and developing new opportunities to ensure that projects are developed with a view to total lifetime performance - ensuring that lessons learned from Construction and Operations feed into improvements in design and development.
- Make team members feel part of the overall Solar & Storage business unit and are focused on end-to-end team and asset performance.
- Ensure that robust evaluation processes are in place to scrutinise projects at every gate, and to ensure that development budget is used as effectively as possible.
- Develop a strong industry network to stay aware of competitor activity and to have early sight of new market opportunities ensuring our JV arrangements are properly managed and opportunities maximised.
- Set the strategy for the overall development of the solar portfolio and define how growth will be achieved, e.g., through organic growth, partnering or acquisitions.
- Work closely with the Heads of Delivery and Operations to develop business plans and improvement objectives which maximise end-to-end success of EDFR’s solar business.
- Working closely with the Head of Storage, and other relevant Heads Off, to ensure hybrid opportunities are fully considered and appropriately managed.
- Work closely with the Head of Origination & Planning to define the strategy for the origination of new utility scale greenfield projects.
- Allocate the solar development budget to ensure it is maximised and supports the delivery of the strategy.
- Lead the investment decision process and work with the Origination & Planning and other teams to ensure that project origination is focused on competitive projects that can find a route to market and are ready for construction at the financial investment decision date thereby maximising the value of the development (or acquired) portfolio.
- Monitor progress of projects through construction and operation, leveraging lessons learned in these phases into improvements in the development of subsequent projects.
- Manage project acquisitions where third party developed sites would enhance the development pipeline. Project manage the acquisition process and opportunity appraisals.
- Monitor regulatory developments and risks and mobilise wider group resources when appropriate.
- Serve as a member of the EDF Renewables UK Leadership team and as such contribute to defining, monitoring, and delivering the organisation’s business objectives.
- As required, serve as a Director on Joint Venture companies

What you need to be great at this role?_**

You’ll have experience of leading a multi-disciplinary team with budget responsibility and you would have already been a member of an organisation’s leadership team.
