The following are the core responsibilities of the MSK Administration Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks and this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels; a) Processing incoming referrals in line with current Protocols b) Processing ongoing referrals for follow up in line with current Protocols c) Answering queries via the telephone system The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist role. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels. a) Provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to the GPs/other clinical staff b) Communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including; patients, external medical departments and colleagues c) Liaising with hospital and community departments regarding appointments, results and referrals d) Type letters, reports and other documents e) Type private letters, referrals and reports f) Using the e-Referral service g) Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner and take messages as appropriate h) Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety i) Action tasks as required j) Monitor progress of 2 week cancer referrals and follow these up as required k) Deal with and log any referral rejections daily l) Dealing with enquiries via email m) Provide clerical assistance to practice staff as required
