**Job description**

**Reports to: Nursery Manager/Senior Deputy**
- To work four days a week for 40 hours to enable an excellent work life balance._

**Main responsibilities**:

- To work in partnership with the Nursery Manager and Senior Deputy to:_
- Deliver and ensure a high standard of teaching, learning and assessment and care for children aged 0-5 years._
- To ensure that the Nursery is a safe environment for children, staff, and others._
- Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development._
- To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Manager or Senior Deputy._
- To support the Nursery Manager and Senior Deputy for the efficient running of the Nursery and delivery of a high-quality service._
- To ensure that the Nursery provides a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times._
- To ensure the Nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times._
- To support the Nursery Manager and Senior Deputy to manage and supervise nursery practitioners._
- To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families._
- Support with the planning, which ensures each child is working towards the early learning goals._
- To support and participate in the key person system._
- To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum._
- Exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement._
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the Nursery aims and objectives._

**Education & Qualifications**:

- Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification._
- A minimum of 3 years recent experience, working in a Nursery setting, ideally already in a Room Manager post or above._
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance._
- Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities._

- Empathy and understanding of children under five._
- Excellent verbal and communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues._
- Excellent organizational skills._
- Calm and caring nature._
- Ability to work as part of a team._
- Able to work on own initiative._
- Abacus knowledge desirable but not essential._
- Tapestry knowledge desirable but not essential._
- Commitment to quality in all areas, with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm._
