We have an exciting and highly rewarding**Head of Safety, Health, and Wellbeing**with the **Metropolitan Police Service**. We are looking to appoint an experienced and innovative Health and Safety expert to this role.

**About the Role**
- The role holder will represent the MPS at an international, government and national policing level (NPCC & CoP). Represent the MPS on legal safety compliance issues (including the enforcement action) with HSE, IOPC, HM Coroners and HMICFRS.
- They will head and direct the MOPAC/MPS Safety, Health and wellbeing maturity project and aligned assurance process to provide safety assurance to the Commissioner and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime on service delivery and legal compliance within theMPS.
- The role holder is the first contact for all high-level contact by Management Board Members and external enforcing agencies such as the HSE (including 24 hours on call service), and for commissioning of work on behalf of the Safety and Health Risk ManagementTeam and Occupational Health Services.
- Steer the legal and safety policy interpretation, advice on best practice/value for money on the provision of Safety, Health, and wellbeing services, which informs or directs the strategies and operational working of the MPS. This is vital for an effectiveand efficient Safety, Health, and wellbeing management system. Failure to deliver may result in criminal enforcement action against the MOPAC, MPS or individuals within MPS.
- Champion the peer review and clearance of safety investigation reports to enforcing authorities (HSE, IPCC and Coroners inquests) and FOIAs.
- Responsible for the Safety and Health Risk Management Team, Occupational Health, including contract suppliers (e.g., Optima Health), and Wellbeing performance, and service delivery.
- The Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing has direct line manager responsibility for 2 staff and secondary reports for 10 staff.And has direct budgetary responsibility for the Safety and Health Risk Management Team budget, Occupational Health (includingcontracted Services Circa £15M)

**The role holder will be able to demonstrate**
- Professionally recognised health and safety degree (or equivalent) or an occupational health nursing professional related qualification; **or** Degree or equivalent in a related health discipline and/or relevant service experience in a senior health service delivery role.
- Evidence of innovation and influencing the SLT in a complex working environment and multi-site organisation.
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders both within and external to the organisation.
- Ability to formulate and write strategic reports, business cases and appraisals, and present papers and reports at Board level.
- A strong track record in Safety, Occupational Health and Wellbeing activities across a large organisation with diverse and complex support needs.
- Experience of heading up contract and supplier management.
