Café Assistant

Crocodiles of the world is looking to add to our current cafe team.

Are you ready to join a small but hard-working café / catering team? If so, you could be what we are looking for at Crocodiles of the World.

We are seeking part time café / catering assistants to work in our growing café / catering operations which will mainly include **Saturdays and/or Sundays and additional shifts during school holiday times and bank holidays**, there will also be an opportunity for extra shifts to cover sickness and holidays. We offer flexible working hours with shifts to suit as per the business needs.

It’s a fast-moving, fun and rewarding role.

You’ll be responsible for greeting and taking orders from our visitors coming in to our cafes at the Zoo, Ensuring our Cafes are fully stocked and all areas are clean an tidy, answering queries and making sure visitors are looked after when visiting us.

- Cash handling experience would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

- Take responsibility for the health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers.
- To ensure that all the Opening Checks/Procedures are undertaken prior to opening to the public each day, to include (but not limited to) hygiene checks, site and play equipment visual safety check, switching on equipment, checking equipment is working, opening all areas of the site.
- To take orders, deliver food to tables and operate the tills in our café and other food outlets.
- To ensure the security of cash.
- To assist the Manager / supervisor in maintaining the company’s Security Policy.
- To deal with any customer queries and/or complaints.
- To undertake housekeeping tasks in the building and ensure that the building is always kept clean and that our cleaning procedures are followed.
- To ensure exceptional levels of health and safety including cleanliness, tidiness and repair, in keeping with current legislation.
- To ensure the café and all outside eating areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- To keep all food outlet areas fully stocked and well maintained
- To receive deliveries and ensure that they are correct - to follow up on any issues. To report any issues to the Manager.
- To handle day-to-day enquiries from external bodies and individuals
- To undertake all Extra Checks and Closing Checks/Procedures at the end of the day

To undertake tasks on other aspects of work as required by Manager or Supervisor.

Person Specification:
Applicants will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, conscientious, reliable and flexible. Would suit a person with good interpersonal skills, who is organised and self-disciplined and who can act on their own initiative.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Ability to communicate with the public and other members of staff in a positive way.
- Ability to stay motivated in an environment that can range from very busy and high pressured to extremely quiet.
- Experience and understanding of seasonal operations.

**Pay will be dependent on age and experience**

**Salary**: £4.81-£9.50 per hour
