£10.50 per hour, to depend on level of experience and qualifications

A vacancy exists at The Henleaze and Westbury Park Open Youth Project for an Assistant Youth Worker, to work alongside and report directly to the Youth Leader responsible for our Older Youth Group.

The weekly sessions take place or start in Westbury Park, Bristol, on most Saturday evenings in term time between 6- 8pm. We are looking for the Assistant Youth Worker to start in JJune 2023, or earlier if available.

The Henleaze and Westbury Park Open Youth Project offers local young people vibrant sessions based at its main venue, Westbury Park Methodist Church. Staff provide a fun and varied programme for two groups. YESSS is for those in School Years 6-8 and generally meets on the third Saturday of the month in term time. The Older Youth Group is for those in School Years 9-12 and they generally meet each Saturday in term time. At present all staff are volunteers, apart from one part time Youth Leader for the Older Youth Group.

Current activities include:
Games, Wii, X Box, Table Tennis etc at main venue

Outings to cinema, bowling, games on the Downs

Contributing to local events e.g. face painting at Party in the Park and Ale and Arty Charity Festival

Young Leaders for YESSS

Camp

Fund raising for Project and good causes e.g. Swimathon

You will join an established,enthusiastic team including volunteers, accountable to the Project’s Executive Committee, sponsored by Westbury Park United Parish.

Times of work will generally be Saturday evenings from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, term time only. Other weekend work may be required for special events (e.g. Camp and Activity Days).

If you consider yourself a team worker, enjoy working with young people, are motivated, innovative, have energy, are over 18 and have passed or could pass an Enhanced DBS check, then we would like to meet you.

You will have experience of working with children and young people in a community setting and be happy to attend any training relating to youth work and safeguarding young people. Your work time will be in term time only and you will be expected to take your annual leave during school holiday periods.

Two references from previous work with young people will be required
