**About the Role**
- Lockheed Martin UK Strategic Systems is looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our team based from RNAD Coulport, Helensburgh. The position benefits from a 4 day working week, giving you every Friday off, plus outstanding benefits and career progression.
- The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is a vital member of the Engineering and Compliance Team, trusted in the provision of Quality Control, in support to the UK Submarine Strategic Weapons System (SWS) Program. Accountable to the Engineering Compliance Manager, you will be required provide support to SWS Missile and Launcher facility, including Handling Operations, to ensure Trident SWS Engineering and Quality standards are achieved on all Flight Hardware and Support Equipment.
- Ensure all Quality Assurance inspection operations and activities within the Trident system are carried out in strict accordance with approved documentation, mandatory safety and acceptance standards and directives within EM13’s area of responsibility. Attain a level of competence, by cross training, that would permit the direct involvement with inspection tasks in other Trident facilities and areas.
- Provide quality inspection support for processing and handling of Strategic Weapon System (SWS) components and associated Surface Support Equipment (SSE) maintenance/repair operations at the Dockside Handling Building (DHB), Explosive Handling Jetty (EHJ). Provide additional support to Small Ordnance Processing Building (SOPB) and Trident Special Area (TSA).
- This is a demanding role within a team environment, therefore the ability to work under pressure using strict adherence to procedures and being able problem solve within the SWS program environment is a must. The position could be suitable for someone transitioning from the Navy or Armed Forces or an Inspector from a Precision Engineering background such as Defence, Aerospace, Automotive Manufacturing or related.
- Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with approved procedures. MoD instructions and publications
- Comply with the Depot Emergency Procedures, Safety and Security Orders, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel
- Perform direct inspection tasks applicable to the Trident weapon system, handling equipment and associated support equipment and sentence items accordingly using relevant accept/reject criteria
- Verify processing documentation is complete and adequate for the task prior to commencement, and to ensure that all activities within the process are performed in accordance with approved procedures and all “accept/reject” points have been recorded as required by relevant procedures
- Become conversant with, and to work relevant Local Work Instructions appertaining to their area of responsibility
- Highlight discrepant conditions arising during inspection and processing activities, by raising issues to supervisor or raising inspection/rejection forms tagging items in accordance with the local instructions
- Carry out receipt inspection on Consumable Shelf/Limited Life items received in Processing/Maintenance Facilities, in accordance with laid down Local Work Instructions and Source Documentation
- To conduct duties and responsibilities with the minimum of supervision.
- Assist in on job training of QCI’s to enable them to obtain competency to carry out inspection duties for all processes within their area of responsibility
- Participate in development through internal and external training, and by identifying and attending suitable courses, which will add benefit to work activities. This will enable individuals to obtain certificates of competency, which will provide to internal and external auditors, a person’s authority to undertake certain tasks and duties.

**Required skills, qualifications and experience**
- Apprenticeship or higher level qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Hands-on Mechanical / Electrical Engineering background and experience
- Must be able to work as a team member.
- Have good communicating and influencing skills.
- Able to analyse and use evidence in decision making.
- Able to adapt to meet changing priorities and deadlines.

**Desirable skills**
- Experience in a Quality Control Inspection role
- SWS (Strategic Weapon Systems) Missile, Launcher or related systems experience
- City & Guilds Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 1 (training provided if not already held)
- Dye Penetrant Level 2 Inspection Qualification.(training provided if not already held)
