The Children’s Services management team are seeking to deliver changes and improvements to their service. They recognise that communications will be key to help delivering these changes and have funding for additional communications support.

The role gives an opportunity to be part of an exciting change programme in children’s services as they look to improve their service. The role holder will be providing guidance and support as they deliver those changes. It is also an opportunity to focus on one service and make a real difference.
- This new role will be solely focused on supporting Children’s Services. Other roles within strategic communications will continue to support the remaining divisions in the People department.**This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only.**

**What will you be doing?**
- Deliver communications activity to support the delivery of the children’s services improvement journey, having a considerable impact on the council’s reputation.
- Deliver activity at pace, working as an embedded part of the service and with other divisions in the council to effect culture change and support the delivery of improving children’s services and protecting and enhancing the council’s reputation.
- Use creativity and innovation to deliver new solutions to issues. This may have an impact on how service teams work within the council.
- Produce high quality content based on an in-depth understanding of user needs. Selecting and creating the most effective communications channels to deliver with impact.
- Engage and influence staff at all levels. Leveraging communications experience and knowledge to advise senior managers, the project board and the Administration.
- Shape effective staff communications which will be critical to support change. Once change is embedded, sharing the new ways of working and successes will be required both internally and externally.
- Measure and evaluate effectiveness to help improve performance and gather insight to fully understand user needs and motivations.
- Understand the importance of this project in delivering council objectives and Administration priorities as part of the council plan and drive for change.
- Strengthen communications and open up new channels to reach our most vulnerable residents and under-represented groups, ensuring we communicate in ways which support accessibility and diversity.

**What we need from you**:

- You will have a Degree (BA or BSc) or equivalent relevant experience.
- It is essential that you have experience gained in a multi-disciplined, full service marketing /communications role, providing social marketing advice and consultancy to internal colleagues and external partners/customers, interpreting project briefs and responding with appropriate campaign proposals.
- You will have experience of developing and implementing full service communications plans and campaigns, from initial concept through to post-campaign evaluation, integrating digital communications. You will also have demonstrable copywriting skills for a range of audiences and formats, both print and online.
- It is essential that you have experience of coordinating and managing social marketing projects, budgets and schedules and measurement and evaluation of social marketing campaigns and of commissioning and overseeing design and print for a range of communications materials (print and online).
You will have experience of commissioning work from external suppliers (e.g. photographers) and overseeing their work.
- We required someone with good interpersonal skills ,able to maintain effective working relationships at all levels and a team player. You will have good verbal and written skills and an excellent attention to detail - presenting work to a consistently high standard, accurate copywriting and strong proof reading skills required Good IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ideally including web content management systems)
- It is key that you are able to lead on projects, prioritise workload, work on own initiative, manage several tasks at once
