Medical Receptionist

16 hours per week - permanent / part time.

Working hours between 8.20am-6.00pm at Dundrum or Clough Surgery

**JOB SUMMARY**

To achieve the aims and corporate objectives of the Surgery by carrying out reception, telephone and clerical duties competently and efficiently.

To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other health professionals.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective manner.

Provide general assistance to the Surgery team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or on the telephone.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

ESSENTIAL

Good standard of education

5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including English and Mathematics

Extensive experience in dealing with members of the public - telephone and face to face

Ability to work flexibly as part of a team. Be resourceful and use own initiative, judgement and common sense

Ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment

Ability to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times

DESIRABLE

IT qualifications: ECDL, RSA, CLAIT, IBT

Minimum of 1 year’s experience working within GP Surgery/NHS

Experience using the EMIS clinical system

Ability to deal with challenging situations or individuals
