**Purpose of the job**:
To lead and be responsible for the day to day organisation of the After-School provision at

St Mary’s C of E Primary School providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children

between the ages of 4- 11 years old in a safe and secure environment.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To lead the After-School Club provision
- Organise and supervise the eating of a light snack for all children
- Prepare and provide suitable and high quality, imaginative, physical and creative activities for the varying needs and interests of children aged 4-11 years old.
- Supervise and deliver a timetable of activities across the week that engages all children
- Provide constant supervision for all the children attending the club
- Be first point of contact for handling and resolving complaints / problems from parents
- Ensure the safe transfer of children to the club at the end of the school day
- Ensure the safe transfer of children to parents when they are collected by their adults
- Ensure all equipment is cleared away at the end of each session (including food, toys, activities, cutlery, crockery etc.)
- Provide medical assistance to children when required and ensure accidents are recorded properly
- Liaise with the school staff with regards to the needs of the children who attend the club
- Liaise with office staff with regards to bookings and communications with parents that have come via the main office
- To liaise with parents to encourage parental engagement, involvement and support of the After-School Club
- Uphold and implement school policies and procedures and participate in relevant training.
- To be responsible for any day to day administration and record keeping that includes maintaining records of attendance, recording accidents and incidents and safeguarding information.
- Develop professional working relationships with the school and all relevant professionals.
- With school staff. monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the service.
- Have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to follow the school’s child protection procedures.

**Qualifications**

NVQ level 2 Childcare or equivalent

GCSE C (4) in maths and English or equivalent

Enhanced DBS

Safeguarding training

First aid certificate in Paediatric Care (12 hours)

Food hygiene certificate

**Experience**

Experience of working with primary aged children 4 - 11 years

Experience of working in a primary school setting

Experience of planning and delivering activities for children

**Knowledge and understanding**

Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding

Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety requirement

Demonstrate confidence in a wide range of activities, including physical activities (sports and games), baking, craft and board games.

Demonstrate a willingness to lead in and participate in planned activities

Awareness and understanding of confidentiality and GDPR requirements.

Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in the work place where you may have to communicate with a range of stakeholders (staff, parents, children, governors, other professionals inc Ofsted)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Part-time hours: 10 per week

**Salary**: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
