**What you’ll be doing**

We have an opening for an Adoption & Pre-Planning Engineer, to be technically assessing and managing the adoption of new sewerage systems (sec 104), sewer diversions (sec 185) and pre-planning enquiries.

Working both independently and collaboratively within the Adoptions team, the Adoption & Pre-Planning Engineer will be carrying out technical assessments of new designs submitted by developers and their consultants, whilst building strong relationships and liaising with customers, developers, consultants, legal representatives, and internal departments.

With both Code for Adoptions and DMeX as our team's key performance indicators, you will deliver the customer promise by exceeding expectations for the statutory timescales, by being an efficient and professional communicator, keeping the developer well-informed throughout the process and building strong relationships for improved customer satisfaction overall.

This role will require a good standard of technical, operational, and engineering experience, an understanding of the construction process, and commercial and regulatory elements of large-scale development.

**What you should bring to the role**

Within this role you the Adoption & Pre-Planning Engineer will be engaging with many stakeholders and building a strong network. Stakeholders will include internal departments such as Asset Planners, Operations, Major Projects and others, whilst externally you will work with Local Planning Authorities, Environment Agencies, product manufacturers, major developers, global consultancies, small developers, contractors and customers.

Technically review all details provided throughout the process for adoptions, diversions, pre-planning and surface water management to ensure that no detriment or risk is caused to Thames Water’s assets or the public sewerage system.

You will build expertise in sewerage policy and legislation and will be fully up to date and knowledgeable on the most recent code of practice ‘Code for Adoptions’ including the Design and Construction Guidance and associated service level agreements and WaterUK metrics and will be responsible for meeting the sewer vesting targets each year.

You will have overall commercial awareness of financial implications linked to customer outcomes and balance customer satisfaction with cost to the business.

This position will be offering a salary from £34,800 to £49,000 per annum depending on knowledge and experience. The package includes an excellent contributory pension and 26 days of holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service.
