UKHSA Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards (RCE) is part of the UKHSA Science Group. RCE provides advice, research and services to protect the public from hazards resulting from exposure to chemicals and poisons, ionising and non-ionising radiation, and other environmental hazards.

The Environmental Public Health Service in Wales (EPHS) is jointly delivered by Public Health Wales (PHW) Environmental Public Health team and the UK Health Security Agency, Radiation, Chemicals and Environment Hazards team in Wales (RCE Wales) This is a long-standing arrangement dating back to the late 2009. The principal functions of the service are set out in a joint 5-year strategic plan and in a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UKHSA (then PHE), Welsh Government and PHW, which also covers other services supplied to Wales including access to radiation advice, out of hours chemical support and National Poisons Information Service.
