Senior Mental Health Practitioner

In addition to the successes of our Early Attachment service, Mental Health Support Team (schools), and innovative #Thrive team (emotional well-being service for children and families), Rochdale has experience of establishing Our Place, an integrated multi-agency “No Wrong Door” approach to supporting children and adolescents who are on the edge of care or who are Looked After. We are committed at a commissioning and senior leadership level to build on this experience. We aspire to provide our children and young people in care with high quality, trauma-informed services, including timely access to assessment and psychological therapies.
We are excited to recruit to a newly commissioned team inRochdalewhich is co-located within Children’s Services. We are looking for a dynamic and clinically experienced Band 7Senior Mental Health Practitionerto work closely with the Clinical Psychologistto develop the service offer and provide a high quality service to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of our cared for children and their parents / carers.
In particular, the post-holder will provide highly specialist advice and consultation to social workers and other professionals around the needs of children in care; will facilitate direct and indirect assessments and therapeutic interventions with cared for children and their parents / carers (including foster carers and family and friends carers), support the development and delivery of training and reflective practice and facilitate the clinical supervision of other professionals to undertake therapeutic interventions. Relevant training and CPD opportunities to develop the successful post-holder’s competencies will be considered to facilitate aspects of the role and service provision.
The successful post-holder will liaise closely with CAMHS to ensure timely access to services for vulnerable children and families in line with i-thrive; and will work alongside the clinical psychologist and CAMHS operational manager to develop and facilitate this service provision.
There are currently progressive psychological therapies and research work-streams running across the Directorate. The support, development and well-being of our workforce are the foundations on which we continue to develop services to ensure children and young people receive optimal care. We have strong links with local universities.
