**About the role**:
West Suffolk Council are currently recruiting for a Markets Officer to join our Waste and Street Services team.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the team and play an important role in the delivery of West Suffolk council markets.

Our Markets currently operate from four main locations; Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Haverhill and Mildenhall. This role will be required to work across all locations.

**What you will need**:
The primary focus would be coordinating the day-to-day market activities, organising market traders, collection of rents, managing and keeping records

The successful applicant will be required to:

- Work within the wider waste team and liaising with our economic development team to promote the continual success of our markets.
- Be a good communicator and possess a friendly outgoing demeanour, you will need to be flexible and prepared to work in an outdoors environment.
- Adopt a hands-on approach, and a can-do approach to the daily demands of delivering excellent services to our customers and resident.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive approach to Health & Safety and be prepared to take on additional training as required.
- Be a team player working within the wider team where communication and collaboration is key to the success of the role.
- Hold a minimum of a Class B driving licence.

The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete six months’ probation, thereafter you will have opportunities to progress along the pay scale through an annual performance development review scheme.
