**Position Description**

Carrington Power Station comprises a 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine’s (CCGT’s) and is located near Manchester.

The Station Finance Officer provides the first point of contact for all financial and administrative demands primarily within the Carrington Power Station but provides additional support to Corby Power Station and FMUK. Providing accurate reporting and variance analysis on a monthly basis to Central Finance whilst maintaining visibility of station performance to local Management. The SFO role is primary source of week to week financial information for the station and also a key point of contact for GT Finance Business Partner, the Financial Performance and Analysis team and also Finance Operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Liaise with local management and Finance to prepare draft submissions in the annual and periodic budget/forecast process. Provide first line challenge to movements in individual budget lines and prepare variance analysis for Business Partner/FP&A review.
- Preparation and posting of all month end journals and reconciliation of local control accounts. Coordination of monthly closing of accounts with Finance Operations.
- Preparation of local monthly management reports including commentary and variance analysis.
- Support the FP&A team in analysis of the monthly station Performance Reports.
- Conduct monthly expenditure reviews with key budget holders (Station Management) and track committed and forecasted spend for BP/FP&A review.
- Provide timely information to aid key decision-making within the station and support ad-hoc project analysis.
- Support procurement processes including supporting the station workflows and invoice queries to ensure timely supplier payments.
- Ensure compliance with Station and Group governance procedures including the annual review of stock reporting with support from the Stores Manager.
- Support and train, where required, station staff on finance and procurement processes.
- Management and reporting on market revenue and costs and monthly reconciliation of plant performance in line with the Carrington Tolling Agreement.
- Preparation of supporting information for monthly Tolling invoices for Carrington and Corby including “system corrections” as required.
- Management of Corporate loans and support with cashflow analysis.
- Support central FinOps with preparation of statutory accounts and audits and first point of contact for external auditors.
- Collating information for payroll inputs.
- Provision of general office support.
- Support the preparation of UK business and other Government returns.
- Supporting Business Partner in financial reviews where required.
- Other duties as assigned by Station Management and/or Business Partner

**Knoweldge, Skills & Experience**

**Essential**
- 5 years relevant experience
- Excel knowledge with good overall IT skills
- Good analytical skills and ability to interpret numbers
- Ability to communicate to both financial and non-financial colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required
- Appreciation of key stakeholders and ability to prioritise workloads

**Desirable**
- Strong SAP skills

**Qualifications**
- Qualified or Part qualified accountant with relevant experience
