**Job overview**:
We are looking for a motivated and experienced midwife to join the Assessment and Accreditation Team who is passionate about the delivery of high quality patient care. The role involves supporting clinical teams in understanding what they are doing well and where improvements are needed through regular audits.

**Main duties of the job**:
The Assessment and Accreditation process is well established at the NCA however it is new to midwifery. The post holder will contribute to the implementation of the process by;
- Support the formal assessment process by undertaking assessments of wards/departments/clinical teams with the Lead Midwife, to monitor the standards of care and treatment delivered using the MAAS tool. Act as a resource for the care organisation with regards to quality care provision.
- Assist Ward Managers/Team Leaders to develop effective action plans which address areas of practice identified as requiring further focus following an assessment. Liaise with specialist teams to provide support as needed to improve patient outcomes.
- Undertaking assessments of wards/departments/clinical teams across a specified Care Organisation to monitor the standards of care and treatment delivered using a condensed version of the MAAS tool.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

- Provide an authoritative and credible source of knowledge and specialist clinical advice / information to teams, taking an active role in self - development, objectively reviewing own performance in terms of management, clinical practice and decision making, identifying own needs and taking steps to meet those needs.
- Establish productive working relationships and effective communication with colleagues at all levels.
- Undertake assessments of wards / departments/ clinical teams across the NCA to monitor the standards of care and treatment delivered using a specific maternity version of the assessment and accreditation system assessment tool
- Provide constructive verbal feedback to Ward Managers and Lead Midwives following assessments.
- Provide detailed written feedback in a timely manner following assessments.
- Support the formal assessment process by undertaking assessments of wards / departments /clinical teams across the NCA with a Senior Assessor, to monitor the standards of care and treatment delivered using the Maternity assessment and accreditation system assessment tool.
- Assist Ward Managers / Team Leaders to develop effective action plans which address areas of practice identified as requiring further focus following an assessment.
- Ensure appropriate escalation to Divisional Leads where concerns are raised, to enable a remedial action plan to be made and implemented.
- To assist in the sharing of best practice both within the Care Organisations and externally.
- Provide assurance around compliance with regulatory and internal standards of care which includes for example, the quality aspects of the five CQC KLOE which include Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led.
- Produce performance reports for the Care Organisation and specialist teams to reflect the level of progress made and identify key areas where focus is required.
- Contribute to the development and process of change by providing support to quality initiatives, i.e., Quality Improvement Tests of Change, Quality Collaborative.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of service development.
- Support and facilitate training sessions / days including presenting on the Preceptorship programme and on Induction days.
- Represent the NCA regarding quality issues for the wider Trust and external stakehold
