To be a key member of the Hampshire Hospitals Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team with primary responsibility for developing and delivering the People Strategy for the Trust.

This role sits at Board level where it has full voting responsibilities. As part of this role, the Chief People Officer holds corporate responsibility jointly with the other Board members for the strategic direction, corporate policy making and the development and delivery of the Trust’s objectives. As a member of the Board Sub Committee for Workforce and Organisational Development, and working with the Chair of this Sub Committee, the Chief People Officer provides strategic advice to the Board in this specialist area.

The post holder will also take a prominent role in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight People Board, and lead on Hampshire and Isle of Wight wide programmes of work on behalf of the health and care system.

A key indicator of success in the role is the annual employee engagement survey.

Internally, along with the CEO and other executive colleagues, you will be responsible for creating the right culture for the organisation - one which is underpinned by our values, ensuring our colleague’s feel proud to work here and local people feel confident in our care. Enabling the organisation to be known as a great place to work recognising the diverse expectations of current and future staff around equality and diversity, staff well-being, flexible working patterns, reward and recognition.

Externally you will be required to develop strong working partnerships with workforce leaders across Hampshire and Isle of Wight as well as representing the trust at a system level as part of Mid and North Hampshire Integrated Care partnership, and other appropriate collaborations. You will also play a supporting role in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS) which was established as part of a national process to bring local NHS organisations and councils together to work in partnership. It allows us to collaborate and share learning and good practice across the ICS.

You will also be required to support the development of strong partnership working and engagement with trade unions.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
