**General Summary**

Bonnier Books UK is looking for a talented Editor to join the Big Picture Press team. This position would be suitable for a Mid-level Editor on a full-time basis, or a Senior Commissioning Editor, part-time, for three days per week. Reporting into the imprint head, as part of a creative and friendly team, your role would be to acquire, edit and publish a range of books, making sure they are produced to the quality and accuracy required, and on schedule. The role will cover a variety of illustrated book formats so experience of different age ranges and formats is necessary. Big Picture Press books are created by, and made for, the incurably curious. With the publication of the Mizielinski’s _Maps_ and Katie Scott’s _Animalium_ in its first year, since Big Picture Press launched in 2013 it has made an indelible mark on the non-fiction market with its boutique range of illustrated gift books. Focusing on extraordinary visual presentation, Big Picture Press collaborates with artists such as Chris Wormell, Lara Hawthorne and Ximo Abadía to create visually inspiring books for readers of all ages around the world.
**Essential Responsibilities**
- Play an active part in new idea discussions, commissioning and acquiring titles
- Research and suggest ideas for the future publishing list, showing awareness of marketplace and trends
- Editorially guide and coordinate the books in line with the editorial and creative briefs, making sure all files are coordinated through the correct approval workflow for the team
- Research, write, copy-edit and proofread a wide range of books across different formats and novelties to make the best product possible
- Make sure all files are editorially accurate and to the required quality during all stages - final files, plotter and advance stages
- Make sure all BPP books are produced to house style and fulfil the in-house brief
- Develop strong relationships with authors, agents and contributors

**Project Management**
- Project-manage books in partnership with Design and Production, making sure key milestones are kept to and final files are supplied on time
- Project-manage a range of books, of appropriate number and complexity
- Liaise and manage 3rd-party contributors, including packagers, illustrators, authors and other freelance agents that are needed to create a project
- Problem-solve and/or escalate problems in the correct manner and in good time to allow schedules to be hit
- Any other adhoc duties as assigned, including maintaining Biblio information and writing information sheets
- Draw up editorial project budgets and P&Ls for approval and negotiate fees with freelance staff
- Attend and present at regular new acquisitions meetings and sales meetings
- Work with the team to produce appropriate sales material including cover copy, marketing and material for bookfairs
- Communicate Company and Department Goals to the creative team
- Assess and implement the Department’s processes, making sure they are robust, up-to-date and fit-for-purpose
