We are looking for a Senior Soil Biogeochemistry Researcher to report to senior management within the Agri-Environment Branch (AEB). The aims of the Branch are to develop and sustain an integrated research effort with national and international recognition on nutrient management within agricultural systems, focusing particularly on the needs of Northern Ireland.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, horizon scanning scientist to play a central role in further developing the Soil Biogeochemistry and Ecology Programme and in delivering the soil carbon and above ground biomass components of the Northern Ireland Soil Nutrient Health Scheme. The post-holder will lead research projects on soil biogeochemistry and its interaction with above and below ground ecology, with a particular focus on soil carbon sequestration and losses in collaboration with a small team of support staff.

Opportunity for career progression also exists within the role to a principal research position if the appropriate competences are met.

You must meet the following criteria;
- A minimum of 3 years post-doctoral research experience in leading scientific studies including the securing of relevant funding, related to soil biogeochemistry.
- A proven ability to disseminate scientific findings as evidenced by having published at least 3 peer reviewed journal publications in international ISI listed scientific journals** as first or senior author and present research findings to a wide range of audiences including stakeholders, technical and scientific staff.
- A minimum of 1 years post graduate experience of leading a research team.**Our reference**: SE3328
