Commercial Director Paper Recycling

Commercial Director required for the paper recycling division of a FTSE 100 company, part of a global paper recycling packaging manufacturing group.

Reporting into the Recycling Managing Director, the Commercial Director will take responsibility for the development and profitability of commercial relationships throughout the UK.

As well as developing existing Suppliers the Commercial Director will source new recovered paper supply opportunities (in order to feed its packaging division) in a variety of sectors including retail, commercial and local authorities.

Commercial Director responsibilities will also include:

- Analysing business data to identify cost reduction opportunities and implement these into the business.
- Increase market share through extensive prospecting, managing the process including generating leads, bidding for new work and developing innovative supply solutions.
- Represent the Company to Suppliers including Corporate Operations, Local Authorities and Independent Operators.
- Achieve budget for both tonnage and ebitda.
- Understand the business, the marketplaces in which it operates and take an active role in identifying and developing strategic options and plans which will allow the business to maximise its revenue and profit growth.
- Lead and direct commercial strategy, contractual performance and operational delivery.
- Have a strong understanding of the legislative framework in which the business operates.
- Accountability for the quality of output; working with Commercial Team as well as direct reports to define standards and deliver protocols.
- Support in the risk analysis and delivery plan for business development opportunities in line with the Company Growth Strategy.
- Provide reporting to ensure that all suppliers and competitor activities are monitored and developed in line with strategy.
- A background in paper recycling and commercial management.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Passionate about recycling with an enthusiastic can-do approach.
- Hold an appropriate driving licence happy to travel across the UK and Europe as required.
- Have a proven track record in negotiating and ultimately securing new business.
- Understand the customers’ business model and processes to identify new opportunities for the business and to add value to both the business and customer.
