**Environmental Enforcement Officers**

**Address **Civic Centre 255, The High Road, London

We are recruiting 2 temporary officers to work with the Private Sector Housing Team, dealing with Housing of Multiple occupancy, waste in front gardens and other environmental issues. The hours will include some weekends and late night.
- Start Time 09:00 AM - End Time 05:00 PM
- Pay Rate £18.91
- Hours Per Week 36.00
- Contract - 6-12 months / Ongoing

**Main Responsibilities**

To identify, investigate and effectively deal with breaches of legislation through appropriate written or verbal advice warnings, notices, and legal action in accordance with legislation and the Council’s policies and procedures.

To lead Environmental crime/nuisance investigation in line with the Environmental and the Council’s Policies & Procedures coordinating a multi-agency problem-solving response from various internal and external partners and devising a plan of action where appropriate.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

Knowledge and understanding of relevant/guidance/directives/powers Environmental & Nuisance legislation

Experience of investigating Environmental Crime / Nuisance complaints and taking appropriate follow up action.

Experience of using relevant legislation and powers, i.e. service of statutory notices, fixed penalty notices, court proceedings etc.

Capable of keeping detailed concise and accurate records of all visits and actions and preparing witness statements, attending court, writing notices and schedules.

Capable of dealing with confrontational situations confidently, calmly, assertively and impartially. Have good listening and negotiation skills. Capable of adapting style and approach to different situations and groups of people.

Good problem-solving skills and able to work as part of a team.

Knowledge, understanding & ability to use all relevant IT Systems relating to the role.

Understanding of how relevant policies and initiatives can be effectively implemented to reduce Environmental nuisance and how positive outcomes can improve local communities.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: £18.91-£21.28 per hour
