**The Role & Responsibilities**
- To ensure credit proposals are underwritten in accordance with Group policy and divisional SLAs under a delegated lending authority up £500k for secured business
- To occasionally provide recommendations to senior underwriters on larger exposures as and when required
- To take minutes for risk appetite forums and Credit Approval Committee as and when required
- To contribute to any ad-hoc projects relating to improvements to the credit underwriting process
- Credit underwriting of 'flow’ business from the asset finance division under a delegated mandate and agreed SLAs
- To be involved in other projects as and when required by the Head of Asset Finance Flow Underwriting including embedding the Risk Management Framework, incorporating Group Policies and Asset Class Lending Policies into day-to-day activities
- Risk governance and control including quality assurance as and when needed, ensuring that risks identified are highlighted and where relevant, documented and mitigated.
- To contribute proactively to the continued improvement of all relevant Credit Policies and processes
- Providing support, education, and training to staff on risk related matters
- Communicate and escalate potential issues / risks in a prompt and effective manner within the bank’s escalation processes

**The Person**
- Relevant professional qualification (legal, insolvency, accountancy, banking) an
advantage but not essential
- At least 5 years lending experience of Asset Finance gained by experience in a
relevant risk management or recoveries role in a professional organisation, e.g.
accountancy firm, law firm, asset finance company or bank essential
- Computer literate (good knowledge of MS Office suite - Excel, Word, Power-Point
- Analytical thinking
- A strong understanding of systems and processes for business and modelling
experience (Excel)
- A good understanding of Asset Finance products and industry risk issues
- An ability to analyse and interpret statutory and management accounts.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (CCA, CCD, Anti Money Laundering,
- Vulnerable Customers, Forbearance) an advantage
- Adaptable & Flexible
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Enthusiastic "can do" attitude
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Accuracy & Attention to detail
- Professional, well presented with high work standards
- Establishes effective working relationships at all levels
- Customer focused and commercial approach
- Must have clean or near clean driving license
