**Our team**

Our global litigation team is the 6th largest worldwide. The Times commended us for having one of the leading commercial disputes practices in England & Wales.

Our London Commercial Disputes team is highly ranked in Chambers, the Legal 500 and by the Global Arbitration Review and acts on some of the largest, most complex disputes in the UK and internationally. Our team is a centre of excellence for several specialisms, including: fraud and asset tracing, disputes involving corporate transactions, private equity, logistics and distribution, clean energy, technology media and telecoms, oil and gas, manufacturing and industrial processes, as well as international commercial arbitration, investment treaty disputes, and public international law - in addition to general commercial disputes.

Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting an Associate to join our London team.

They will have exposure to high quality work and the opportunity to develop their skills further, learning from direct experience but supported by partners and senior lawyers. The continued success of the team creates real opportunities for merit-based promotion.

**Roles and Key responsibilities**

Reporting to the International Client Team Manager in Connect, you will take ownership of your own workload and support the team/department objectives in delivering a high standard of work in a timely and professional manner.
- analytical thinking and problem solving
- prompt escalation of issues to your Manager and Client Partner
- co-ordination of legal matters from initiation to closure
- creation and delivery of billing to some of the firms largest and most complex global clients
- proactively driving financial hygiene by guiding fee earners, partners and secretaries on the billing of WIP/disbursements and client debt status
- the provision of a first class client service to both the client and all key stakeholders across the Eversheds-Sutherland network
- building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- actively identifying opportunities for process improvements to drive efficiencies
- production of weekly and monthly reporting to your client(s) and internal stakeholders (ie Partners)
- ensuring that weekly and monthly checklists are completed for your client(s)

**Skills and experience**

We are looking for:

- Excellent technical skills and legal analysis
- a Finance (AP/Billing/Revenue Control) background would be preferred but not essential as training can be provided
- Excellent academic qualifications from a reputable training institution
- Extensive experience of English court procedures, and preferably also international arbitration
- Ability to analyse complex factual situations and distil the key issues clearly and concisely and persuade others through logical reasoning
- Experience of providing first rate client service
- Exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work
- Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients, introducing clients to other teams or
practice groups
- “Can do” attitude and prepared to go the extra mile to ensure we are able to meet our clients’ needs
